Staying in my lane
Staying out of my lane meant that I had lost vision. Staying out of my lane meant that I lost my purpose. Staying out of my lane meant that I lost my way.
Growing up I had a picture as to what my potential dream job would be, what I could do with that financial blessing, where and when I would find my wife, and the father I might be to my children.
With all those aspirations in mind, the only thing was to work towards those goals... In the process of working towards them, I can say that I occasionally found myself jumping in and out of my lane by swerving into others.
It's not because the lane of others appeared to be more or less glamorous, but rather because I had allowed myself to believe that remaining in my own lane meant that I would end up doing everything alone.
But God has other ideas!
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart" - Jeremiah 1:5(a)
It's easy to look at others and compare your lane to theirs, based on the image or lifestyle they've shown. Unfortunately sometimes this can have you focused on the things you haven't achieved yet.
However it's important to understand that we shouldn’t try to impress others, and that we definitely don’t need to impress God. He loves you just the way He made you, and He wants you to be YOU.
"Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ" - Galatians 1:10
I know at times we may all feel the need to belong and fit in, but you have to remember and know you belong to God first. Once you understand that, you will begin to understand who God has made you to be, and you will notice that staying in your lane with God by your side, can only mean accomplishment.
Have a Blessed Week🙌🏾
